Kingston Environment Centre is under threat of closure as the council has not confirmed it will extend our lease, which runs out on April 18th. The council has told us it wants to receive a higher income from the premises we occupy in New Malden. As we survive on only a small amount of money (which in the past has been given to us in a grant from the council), there is no way we can afford to pay the same rate as a corporate organisation would.
All of this means we don’t know whether we can survive, so we need your help urgently to petition the council to keep us where we are and to promise to keep our rent low.
The centre is running at full capacity every day with so many events taking place, it would be a terrible loss to New Malden and the Kingston borough to see it go. Please sign the petition and tell your friends.
